Showing Respect
Students should face the flags and bow when they walk onto/off of the workout mat.
Students should face their sparring partner and bow before and after sparring.
When shaking the hand of a student with a higher rank than your own, your left hand should be facing down and placed under your right elbow.
When shaking the hand of a student with a lower rank than your own, your left hand should be facing up and placed under your right elbow.
The Tenets of Taekwondo
Courtesy – Being polite, nice, respectful, and compassionate to others.
Integrity – Being honest with others and yourself.
Perseverance – Setting a goal for yourself and working towards it without giving up, no matter how hard it is or what obstacles stand in the way.
Self-control – Control of your actions, thoughts, and emotions.
Indomitable Spirit – Having the courage to stand up for your values, beliefs, and principles no matter what the cost or opposition.
Victory – Doing everything that you can to achieve victory over yourself.
